Boston Celtics One Win Away from NBA Title
Celtics Dominate Mavericks in Game 1 of NBA Finals
Boston Seizes Early Lead, Extends Series Advantage
The Boston Celtics are on the cusp of their 18th NBA championship after dominating the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. The Celtics jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, cruising to a 106-99 victory on Wednesday night.
Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston with 29 points and 12 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown added 20 points and 9 rebounds. Kristaps Porziņģis, who returned to the Mavericks lineup for the first time since Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The Celtics were simply too much for the Mavericks, who struggled to keep pace with Boston's athleticism and intensity. Dallas made a run in the fourth quarter, but the Celtics were able to hold on for the victory.
With the win, the Celtics take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 2 will be played in Dallas on Friday night.
